Set against the beautiful backdrop of the Mediterranean Sea, Swept Away is Lina Wertmuller’s most famous and controversial film about sex, love and politics. On an elegant yacht off the coast of Sardinia, Raffaella (Mariangela Melato), a wealthy and stunning capitalist, enjoys torturing Gennarino (Giancarlo Giannini), a communist sailor. Fate has a different plan and the roles are reversed when they both find themselves on a deserted island.
